Building Product Applications

The building products industry is one of the largest users of composite materials. CORE Molding Technologies provides a unique mix of materials, processes and geographic locations needed to exceed the expectations of a variety of building products manufacturers. CORE’s ability to produce parts using a variety of processes from a variety of locations makes CORE the right choice for your building product needs.

Application Specific Materials
Competitive Cost
Application Specific Materials

Unlike providers with only one material or process to offer, CORE has a variety of materials to meet the specific needs of your product.  With both thermoset and thermoplastic capabilities, the expertise to specially formulate materials for your particular performance requirements, and a range of processes to fit your program parameters, CORE can customize a solution perfectly suited to meet your needs.

Competitive Cost

Composites often present lower tooling costs and the ability to combine multiple pieces into one component eliminating complexity, waste and assembly labor costs. With an industry-leading range of material and process options, CORE can collaborate with you to select the right combinations that optimize cost and performance for your specific project.

Corrosion Resistance
Corrosion Resistance

Give your products longer life and avoid quality problems and costly warranty claims from corrosion and chemical damage by substituting composites for traditional metals. Composites meet or exceed many challenging performance standards, while preventing rot and rust. CORE can assist you in designing corrosion and chemically resistance parts through the use of styrene monomers and custom formulations for application to specific products exposed to harsh environments.

Ease of Installation
Durability
Ease of Installation

Taking weight out of your products improves the safety and ease of installation for your customers. The use of lightweight composites and engineered plastics that CORE provides has changed the safety and cost equation for numerous applications that require moving and positioning of products during end use installation.

Durability

Composites are known for durability due to their high strength-to-weight ratio and resistance to chemicals and corrosives. This makes composites an ideal choice for many demanding applications that experience heavy loading and fatigue cycling in harsh environments, typical of applications in this industry.

Program Support
Program Support

CORE has experience supporting programs of all types, from prototype through serial production. Whether your program launches with First Article Inspection (FAI) or a fully-developed Run-at-Rate PPAP approval, we have the talent, systems, and expertise to handle it. Using rigorous APQP processes in a Phase Gate approach, we turnkey the entire tooling development and production approval process. You can count on CORE for an on-time, flawless program launch.

SMC Compounding and Material Development

SMC Compounding and Material Development

CORE has a catalog of proven sheet molding compound (SMC) formulations designed to meet specific mechanical properties such as strength, density, surface finish and tolerance of harsh environments. If one of our standard materials is not a good fit, our materials engineers can create an application-specific formulation to provide the best benefit to your design.

Thermal Characteristics

Composites have a very low rate of thermal conductivity and are the materials of choice in high heat high and/or humidity applications. Thermoset composites also have a high degree of dimensional stability and can withstand large variation in temperature exposure.
